My Kind of Jen is an eclectic sort of blog that I started last year. It features myself, my Danish music man husband, Kris, my five kids (yes…it’s not a typo, I have five kids that I love fiercely), our life in Denmark and everything in between. You can definitely find out more about me and my journey on my ‘About Jen‘ page.
This last year I had an epiphany, I realized through my OVER TWO YEARS of endless job search in Denmark that no one was going to hire me. I was job searching up to 8 hours a day with no job prospects and about 18 different versions of my CV (resume) and countless applications, (assisted by countless late nights and a lot of coffee). I was losing hope. It was then that I turned to the vast web in search of how I could recreate my life on my own terms.
Through continuous learning and researching, I’ve been busy making My Kind of Jen a place for expats, busy entrepreneurs and a resource for other bloggers. Through all this I discovered Social Media Management (SMM) and I started social media business to help you grow your business. I love SMM for the relationship building, the connections, the targeted traffic to see your business and brand grow. To know that I had a hand in growing your business from the ground up gives me joy! I love serving others!
Here are some of the posts you will typically find on My Kind of Jen:
Through all of this, I also share about our diverse family and the ups and downs of our unconventional life abroad. One of the key aspects I’ve always aspired for this blog is to remain ‘real’ and for my posts to create a connection.
I have come to be very particular about who I work with and I will only work with businesses & brands that both my family and my readers will really connect with. This means that when I say ‘yes’ to working together, I become so passionate about you and your business! This means that I strive to create specific content that fully engages with your audience that truly tells a story; with both words and high quality, beautiful images.
I am a storyteller, I come from a long line of story tellers, as that’s how we pass on our history. By day I work from home as an expat blogger and a freelance social media manager. I graduated with a Masters in Business Management (MBA) five years ago. At the peak of this ‘past life’ in Alaska, I was the President/CEO of a small corporation. I helped them grow their business development opportunities, learning the art and psychology of networking, partnerships and business management. I rewrote their story.
Since I’ve moved to Denmark (and as a result of this blog), I decided to put my skills to use and launch a freelancing social media management business; a business that is serving small start-up companies – particularly creative entrepreneurs that have started businesses of their own – to write their content stories, to create communities and to grow their businesses.
I work with businesses and brands in a number of ways and I am very open to new and unique ways to work together. Here are some of the things I love to do:
I also offer lots of freelancing services to both small and larger businesses. Here are some of the things I offer:

Jen has been an invaluable resource over the last few weeks. I must admit, my small business budget is tight and I was hesitant to put aside funds for getting my social media presence and advertising going. We are still just getting started, BUT my Pinterest account has exploded in just a few days and I look amazingly more professional on my Instagram profile. Jen is also talented with graphic design marketing and has created some really attractive adverts for me. I am positive that this growth will continue and soon turn into conversions.
